As you know, BC is undergoing an overdose crisis related to the synthetic opioid fentanyl. Some staff, parents and students have been asking for support and information to increase their knowledge about the drug, the risk of accidental ingestion / cross-contamination, and the potential risks to students.

Accordingly SACY (www.vsb.bc.ca/sacy), a joint initiative of VSB and Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), that focuses on substance use education, brief intervention and support has developed two resources:

·        Fentanyl Info Handout – a fentanyl primer that outlines key core knowledge pieces, including practical examples and approaches to use with youth

·        Fentanyl Related Resources and Supports – a one pager listing useful websites with additional information

Please share these materials with your school community.

The documents are also posted at SACY: www.vsb.bc.ca/sacy

You can contact your SACY worker (see list at www.vsb.bc.ca/sacy/contacts) for more information, support or referral to community services or Art Steinmann, SACY Manager,
