More kanji is taught, and grammar introduced in the context of conversations. (ex: short forms in present and past, not yet, until, colors, comparisons, desire, “I have had the experience of. . .”, “things like. . .” probability, “must not”, “because”, “is better”, “too much”. . .)

The final five units in An Integrated Course in Elementary Japanese “Genki” textbook is used.
