Description

The aim of Health and Career Education 8 is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will assist them in making informed decisions related to their health, their education, and their future careers. Health and Career Education 8 builds on HCE K to 7.

 

HCE 8 deals with EDUCATION AND CAREERS: (potential career options and transferable/employability skills) and HEALTH: Healthy Living (personal health goals, influences on eating habits, factors affecting healthy sexual decision making, consequences of STIs and HIV/AID’S); Healthy Relationships (importance of healthy relationships, sources of information and support, contributing to a safe and caring school); Safety and Injury Prevention (risks of road-related situations, responding to emergencies, potential job hazards, Internet safety); Substance Misuse Prevention (influences on substance misuse, strategies for healthy choices).

Section 2 – Caring Communities and You (4 assignments)

Section 3 – Education and Careers (3 assignments)

Section 4 – Playing it Safe (5 assignments)

Section 5 – Substance Misuse Prevention (2 assignments)

Assessment

The HACE 8 course is graded as follows:

 

StartUp Assignment 5%

Discussions 10%

Monthly Self-Assessments 5%

Assignments 80%  (total of 18 assignments)
