Description

The aim of Health and Career Education 9 is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will assist them in making informed decisions related to their health, their education, and their future careers. Health and Career Education 9 provides a foundation of learning for Planning 10, the required Graduation Program course.

 

HCE 9 deals with EDUCATION AND CAREERS (exploring career options, sources of information and support, importance of developing employability skills); and HEALTH: Healthy Living (healthy lifestyles and personal potential, healthy eating habits, healthy sexual decision making, consequences of unsafe sexual behaviour); Healthy Relationships (building healthy relationships, avoiding unhealthy relationships, responding to bullying, discrimination, harassment, and intimidation); Safety and Injury Prevention (avoiding unnecessary risks, road and community, avoiding workplace injuries); Substance Misuse Prevention (consequences of substance misuse).

Section 2 – Building Relationships (3 assignments)

Section 3 – Exploring Work and Education (5 assignments)

Section 4 – Safety: Be Smart (3 assignments)

Section 5 – Substance Misuse Prevention (2 assignments)

Assessment

The HACE 9 course is graded as follows:

 

StartUp Assignment 5%

Discussions 10%

Monthly Self-Assessments 5%

Assignments 80%  (total of 15 assignments)
